TAEKWONDO JIDOKWAN INDONESIA (TJI) is the national Taekwondo organization in Indonesia which is directly affiliated with The World Taekwondo Jidokwan Federation based in South Korea (with the Certificate of Appointment Number: 2023 signed by Jidokwan Korea President GM Lee Sung Wan on December 12, 2022). TJI also has a Deed of Establishment No. 04, February 14, 2023, Notary: Maya Iswari, S.H., M.kn., Decree of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, No. AHU-00034: AHU-00034. AH. 02.02. TAHUN 2018 dated May 16, 2018, as well as the Decree of Establishment from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, No. AHU-00034. AH. 02.02: AHU 068584.AH.01.30. Year 2023. And has an Indonesian Trademark registration No. JID2023094396 which means that it has legal rights to the organization of sports competitions; martial arts instruction; Taekwondo instruction; sports instructors; information services about entertainment, training, recreation and sports available through the internet and other communication networks; entertainment services in the nature of martial arts contests; entertainment services in the nature of Taekwondo contests; recreation services; martial arts school services; providing martial arts training; providing classes in fitness and exercise/sports; rental and exploitation of sports facilities.
It was originally founded in 2014 by Grand Master Bimo Hernovo with DAN 7 Jidokwan Korea who is a student of the Jidokwan style of Taekwondo from Grand Master Qaizer Khan Niazi with DAN 9 Jidokwan Korea, who also serves as the International Director and Technical Advisor of Jidokwan Korea.
GM Bimo started learning Taekwondo martial arts in Indonesia in the city of Surakarta, around the late 80s, an original student of the legendary Master coach (Honorary TJI) Edy Handoko. Had established several Dojang, among others: Dojang Kratonan, Dojang SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta (also gave birth to National Bantam class athlete Desy Nurhayati, 20th SEA Games Champion Brunei Darussalam 1999) and Dojang Koguryo Merah Putih which was able to give birth to national coaches and three World champions on behalf of Indonesia from Surakarta. He once served as general secretary of Taekwondo Surakarta and often served as the main coach of the Surakarta team in various competitions. In 2000, while studying in Japan, he had established Dojang in two places on the campus of the International Language Institute in Shizuoka. The following year at Toyohashi Gijutsu Kagaku Daigaku, or Toyohashi University of Technology in Aichi prefecture Japan.
In 2004, he moved to Europe to study at TU Dortmund, Germany and trained at Dojang TSG and Dojang Wongi, and in the Netherlands, he trained at Dojang Taekwondo Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. He often takes his Taekwondo team to World Championships in Europe, including the prestigious International German University Championships in Cologne, Germany, 2005 and others. Trained under GM Frank Hauffe and GM Chang Seong Dong in the Academy Sangrok Germany and Sangrok World. Having met many Jidokwan Grand Masters, in 2014 he joined Jidokwan and received the mandate to establish Jidokwan Indonesia with the support of Jidokwan Grand Masters in Europe and Korea. Together with the masters in Jidokwan Indonesia and their students, the concept of Jidokwan Indonesia on a larger scale began to develop until now.
Also coaching from the early days of Taekwondo Jidokwan Indonesia are Master KSAL Admiral Muhamad Ali (DAN 5 Kukkiwon), Major General Rodon Pedrason, Brig. Gen. Pol. Jhonny Edison Isir, S.I.K., M.T.C.P., Admiral (Ret.) Dr. Endy Samsuhari SPd, M, MPd, MM, M.Oxcel, RM.Suryo Atmanto, Setyawan (Bodyguard & Personal Assistant SIJ. KGPAA. Mangkunagoro IX), Kapok Sahli PUSTERAD Brigjend TNI Anan Nurakhman, S. I.P, Kombes Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, Lieutenant Colonel (Laut) Pius Herdasa Krisna Murti who served as DANLANAL Nabire, Lieutenant Colonel Susan Darminto (AU), Captain Arif Hidayat (AD), Captain Eko Purwanto (KOPASGAT TNI AU). As well as the previous Chairman of TJI (2022-2023) Mr. Andrie Tjiou at that time Taekwondo Jidokwan Indonesia held the first time with the Taekwondo Combat format, with matches in the cage arena in the framework of the 77th Jidokwan Annyversary, Chairman Belt Championships at Pakuwon, Solo Baru, March 3-4, 2023.
Currently there are 29 Dojang affiliates spread throughout Indonesia (13 provincial administrators) which will likely continue to grow.
Taekwondo Jidokwan in the world has long existed in various countries such as South Korea which is the origin of Jidokwan, America, Canada, Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico etc.) and Continental Europe (England, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal etc.) as well as throughout the African continent, in addition to Australia, while Taekwondo Jidokwan Indonesia itself is a pioneer in the Southeast Asian Region.
